Once the gutter brackets have been fitted, you can now install the guttering itself. When taking the first length of gutter and clipping it into the running outlet and the fascia brackets, it's more practical to start by clipping the back first instead of the other way around. Once that's done, use a union bracket to connect the second length of gutter to the first and find the suitable screw to clip the two ends together and affix them to the fascia.

If necessary, measure and cut the gutters according to the corner they're going to be positioned in. Don't overlook putting in an external stop-end at the end of the length of the gutter, making sure it protrudes from the edge of the fascia board by 25 millimetres. As mentioned earlier, a gutter adapter may be required if there's a need to connect existing gutters to your new installation.

You'll probably have to bridge the space between the wall and the gutter by using two offset bends and an off-cut of downpipe already cut to the suitable size. You have the option of push-fitting the offset bends using a pipe clip; just make sure that, immediately below the offset, the clip is fitted under the socket on the pipe, taking care that a 6 millimetre gap is maintained above the downpipe as an allowance for expansion.

Square or round downpipes can both be used regardless of what type the guttering is, provided you have a suitable adaptor ready for use. For instance, you need a SQ/RD Downpipe Adaptor if you need to attach a round downpipe to square gutters. Install the first piece of downpipe with its socket highest into the outlet, mounting it with a pipe clip at the top to hold it securely to the wall. Setup the remaining downpipes by connecting each pipe with a handy pipe socket. At last, fit a shoe secured with a pipe clip at the base of the pipe.
