Metal: As for metallic surfaces, nothing beats a self-tapping screw that can cut their own thread right into metal. Regular self-tapping screws are best for interior installations, while stainless steel self-tappers are best for exterior installations, especially for surfaces exposed to rust-forming elements.

Plasterboard

Drywall screws are best for plasterboards, because their sharp, twin-threaded piercing points (bugle head for flush finish) provide instant installation, plus they can be collated for speedier insertion.

Masonry


Single thread screws that have their cases hardened with grooves in their thread in order to allow dust to escape is the way to go when it comes to stony surface fittings. These screws have the best grip and drive to grind into masonry-related materials. For inside installations, use only concrete and masonry self-tapping screws, while for outside installations, use frame screws and hammer fixings.

Floorboards
